The fights in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are incredibly complex. Many important gameplay elements are not available at the beginning and are only activated in the other chapters. In order not to lose the overview, we have summarized all the information.
the most important foundations
attack, withdraw & give up
You can only attack your opponents when you have pulled your gun. Attach your goal and hold the a button . If you want to flee from a fight, you have to put your gun away. To do this, you also hold the A-button pressed.
Active attack and withdrawal only works in random encounters while exploring the areas. You cannot withdraw in boss fights, but you have the opportunity to give up the fight by holding out the (-)-button . Choose Give up to cancel the fight and return to the next quick travel point.
pays attention to anger & rage lines
Collecting anger, draws the attention of the opponents to you, which is also called aggro in other role-playing games. You create anger by attacking your opponent. Defenders generate most of the anger and have the task of protecting healers and attackers from enemy attacks.
A red or blue line indicates which character is attacked by an opponent. This line is referred to as the rage line. A blue line arises when your defender holds the aggro. A red line indicates that an attacker or healer is in the crossfire.
Auto attacks & AutoKampf
If you are in the fight with opponents, your characters automatically attack. These normal standard attacks are called auto attacks. Car attacks only work if you are near an opponent and don't move. After a car attack, you have a small time window to re-position yourself without losing DPS (Damage-Per-Second).
This is how you fight: The monster density in the open areas can sometimes be annoying. If you don't want to flee before every fight to collect items and EP, you can switch to car fight. Press the (-)-button after you have pulled your gun.
What are tactics and how do I use them?
Tactics are commands that you can give your colleagues to influence the course of the fight. The correct use of tactics is extremely important and often decides on victory and defeat. You open the tactical palette by holding the ZR button .
With the tactical palette you can determine which combos and mergers should use your group members. This gives you the advantage of saving valuable resources and calling up at the right moment. However, the commands concentrate and gather/dissolve are much more important.
concentrate attacks
Choose concentrate attacks to command your group to concentrate the attacks on a single goal. As a rule, your colleagues attack the opponent you are fighting. You should almost always actively switch this command to quickly thin out the rows of opponents and to quickly take out of the game-like the enemy healer.
collect/dissolve
You can gather to hesitate your group members closely. This not only helps to collect run-down colleagues again, but can also be used to pull your companions out of danger zones. Furthermore, you can specifically place your group members in strengthening and healing circles .
techniques & special techniques
Techniques are active skills with which your opponents harm, heals allies or uses strengths. In the character menu, three normal techniques and a particularly strong special technology can be assigned. Techniques and special techniques must be charged before you can use them.
There are different ways of the so-called technology charging . Kevesian classes automatically charge techniques over time, agnic classes through car attacks. Connection attacks on car attacks charge the techniques even faster.
The perfect fighting positioning
Depending on the positioning, some techniques receive special effects. This is called combat positioning. The right position brings you bonus , such as more damage to attacks on the opponent's back. In the case of appropriate techniques, the appropriate position above the name is displayed.
What are connection attacks?
If you do a new attack at the moment you hit an attack, you attack with a so-called connection attack. For example, a technique can be followed on car attacks and special techniques on normal techniques. This increases the version and the DPS.
Technology combos-that's how it works
Certain techniques trigger additional effects and can be combined with each other to combine technology combos. An opponent that you fluctuate, for example, can be spinned to the ground with another technique. An example of a longer combo would be: fluctuating-> overturning-> fainting-> explosion.
Overview of the additional effects:
SCHUINGE: * Raised opponents are hit with a technology that triggers spinning, all further attacks and cause more damage. Fainting: If you meet the opponents who have been thrown up with fainting, make all further attacks and do not generate anger. Smetting: If a hurled opponent is revived with smashing, it goes to the ground and receives enormous damage.
How do fusion techniques work?
In addition to the normal class techniques, master techniques can be equipped, which are unlocked by leveling a new class. When a few are charged from class and master techniques, their effects can be combined. Fusion techniques can be made as a connection attack on normal techniques.
Ouroborus form: All information about the synchronization
After you have completed the second chapter, the mighty Ouroborus forms are available. With the so-called synchronization , two group members merge together and turn into an Ouroborus for a short time.
Synchronization can only be carried out if the corresponding snake symbol is fully charged. Synchronized characters can use unlimited Ouroboros techniques and are extremely resistant. Ouroboros techniques can also act as connection attacks.
In the Ouroborus form you do not do any damage, but generate steadily heat. If the heated up is full, you turn back and have to wait a little until the snake symbol is recharged.
## #nchro levels increase
If you use fusion techniques in the fight, the Ouroboros shape can be gradually increased. These three increasingly stronger levels are called synchro levels. If you turn into an increased synchro level, you switch to a strengthened Ouroboros form .
improve overoboros form
In addition to general character improvements, the Ouroboros shapes can also be reinforced. Select in the main menu Characters-> Synchronizations-> Seelenbaum. New properties and skills are acquired by soul points (SP) that you deserve in the fights.
use attack chains correctly
The last gameplay element that we want to explain to you in this guide are the attack chains. An attack chain is a mighty combat strategy in which group members use their techniques in the immediate consequence. The chain bar fills with combos, technology connections and roller actions. As soon as it is filled, you can start an attack chain by pressing the (+) button.
chain commandos & execution of commands
If you start an attack chain, the fight is paused and you have to choose from three different commands. Compare the different bonuses and select the best chain command. Afterwards you have to select group members and use techniques to get tactical points (TP) . If the TP reaches 100 percent, command is considered successfully completed.
chain techniques
After a command was successfully completed by using different techniques, the first phase of an attack chain ends. Depending on the rating , characters that were already on the train are available again. As long as characters are available and the chain strip is not empty, the chain continues.
roll-dependent chain bonuses
A special effect can be activated for each role during the command version if you meet the corresponding condition:
Preventive strike: * If the attacker attacks first, you get a large amount of TP. Point limit: If you attack with a healer, the TP never exceed 99 percent. Back in the battle: If you complete a command with a defender, the character with the most TP is reactivated.
heroic commands
If you have heroes in your group, you can activate special chain commands that do not consume the chain bar . For this reason, it is advisable to use a heroic command in most scenarios.
