God of War Ragnarok: developers tell the best saved secret of the game
Like the first game of the series, the God of War of 2018, the second installment is full of Easter eggs, secrets and winks scattered throughout the world and in all dialogues. God of War Ragnarök director Eric Williams recently revealed a cameo that even the most trained eye could not have seen.
everyone's father
Eric Williams has revealed that Odin makes a cameo at the beginning of the game, but it is almost impossible to detect it unless you know exactly where you should look.
While Rates and Ales make their way in a boat through Svartalfheim for the first time, you can see a dwarf crossing the bridge over them and then leaning to spit in the water. Williams revealed that the dwarf is actually Odin, who is presumably watching Rates and Women.
Although the dwarf is relatively distant and only appears on the screen momentarily, you may notice facial features similar to those of Odin if you look more closely.
The dwarf even seems to carry a patch in the eye, the registered trademark of Odin. This would also explain why the dwarf spits in the water: in a gesture addressed to Rates.
Odin everywhere
According to Eric Williams, Odin hides in God of War Ragnarök, using his abilities to impersonate others. And those who have finished the game know the great final turn: Tar, whom you save at the beginning of the game, is not really the Nordic God of war, but Odin.
I saw someone who finally discovered it the other night, says Williams about one of the first Odin tracks that is hidden in the subtitles. When Odin speaks like Tar, there is no accent in the 'and' in the subtitles.
The developers had a lot of fun hiding clues about the mass final turn throughout the game, says Eric Williams:
There are so many little clues. You know, where does [Try] escape? If you return there, in this room, there are crow feathers in the corner. [...] Even the things he says, how to call Freya 'Frigga' [...], laughs.
